Audition Requirements
Please prepare 16-32 bars of contemporary musical theatre and a 60-second monologue. Bring sheet music – an accompanist will be provided. Submit headshot and resume to
info@redbranchtheatre.com with audition date preference for consideration. Audition appointments will be scheduled on a first come – first served basis. All actors will be paid an honorarium. TICK, TICK… BOOM! is Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical tale of a young composer on the brink of turning 30 and falling into oblivion. Three actors portray ten characters through fourteen songs to take you on the playwright/composer’s journey that ignited an interest in Larson’s work and ultimately led to Broadway sensation,
RENT.

Red Branch Theatre Company seeks three powerhouse singing actors to fill all three roles. |

Character Breakdown
JON – 25 – 30 years old – A struggling composer on the brink of his 30th birthday. Michael’s roommate and Susan’s boyfriend.
Baritenor with rock belt.

MICHAEL – 25 – 30 years old – A former actor-turned-market research executive. He is Jon’s roommate and best friend. Doubles as COUNTER GUY, DAD, and MARKET RESEARCH GUY.
Baritenor with rock belt.
SUSAN – 20 – 30 years old – A dancer and Jon’s girlfriend. Sexy, kind, independent. Doubles as KARESSA, ROSA, JUDY, and MOM.
Mezzo-soprano with rock belt.

DEAR EDWINA is a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up.
Told through a show-within-a-show format, Edwina and her friends
share wisdom that is sure to delight. Thirteen-year-old Edwina
Spoonapple trots out her musical advice giving shows live from the
family garage in hopes of wooing a talent scout that will give her
the opportunity to be a part of the Kalamazoo Advice-a-palooza
Festival.

Character Breakdown
ANNIE – Edwina’s close friend. A girl scout cookie-selling
champion who is proud of her accomplishments and eager to put the
things she has learned as a girl scout to good use. Doubles as ANN
VAN BUREN. Range: G3-G5.
BILLY – Edwina’s friend. One of the Vanderploonk twins. He is
goofy, outgoing, and boyish.
Range: B2-G5.
BOBBY – Edwina’s new friend who recently moved to the
neighborhood. He is unfamiliar with “show business” and hesitant
to join. Outgoing and friendly. Range: A3-G5.
EDWINA SPOONAPPLE – An advice-giving extraordinaire and
director/star of the Spoonapple Repertory Theatre. Confident,
dramatic, and ambitious, but caring beneath her drive for success.
Range: G3-G5.
JOE/JO – Edwina’s older brother or sister and musical director
of the Spoonapple Rep. Male or female, speaking role.
KELLI – Edwina’s next-door neighbor. She is a sophisticated
ballet dancer, but snobby and a show-off. Doubles as KATIE
SPOONAPPLE. Range: A3-C6
MYRA/MYRON – Edwina’s older sibling. He/she is a percussionist
and plays the drums to accompany Edwina and her friends. Female or
male, speaking role.
SCOTT – Edwina’s friend. Humble, shy, and hopelessly in love
with Edwina. Range: E3-A5. |
